So its official, Khabby is out for year. Bummer. I was hoping he would serve as a solid back up for Crawford and go out on top as a Stanley Cup Champion but it looks as if he will go out with only playing a few games and completely shitting the bed in most of them.
So now what? Well it looks as if Raanta is staying with the big club and not going back down to the Hogs. Gotta tell ya, not crazy about it. "But Flow Man, the kids sick! he was the rookie of the month and kept the Hawks in games while Crawford was hurt!
I get that, if it wasn't for Raanta while Craw was hurt we would not be in first in the West, no doubt about it. But, when Crawford is healthy, he plays. The Hawks have ridden their number 1 goalie more than anyone in the show and I understand that could be because they haven't had a good back up this season until now. My point is, I would not hate seeing the Hawks send Raanta down and call up Labarbera because he is a veteran and is a NHL backup, while Raanta is YOUNG and needs to PLAY which he would do in the AHL.
Its never bad to have 2 reliable goalies on an NHL team but I would also like to see Raanta play every night and continue to get better down in Rockford.
BTW: No more long ass blogs like this for awhile, just wanted to get my Hawks Talk fix on.
